Urban Cycling Day 2: On-Road Skills & Traffic Practice<\/p>\n

Ready to feel more comfortable riding with traffic and navigating the road?\u00a0<\/p>\n

This on-bike session gives participants the chance to apply traffic concepts, practice key riding skills, and build confidence riding on city streets. Electric bikes welcome!<\/p>\n

You\u2019ll work in small groups with certified instructors to improve bike handling, hazard avoidance, and everyday riding skills for streets and shared paths.<\/p>\n

All participants will receive a free pair of bike lights.<\/p>\n

  • Bike handling, hazard avoidance, and emergency maneuvers<\/li>\n
  • Observation, signaling, and scanning techniques for traffic<\/li>\n
  • Riding confidently on neighborhood streets and paths<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    <\/p>\n

    Part 1: Parking Lot Practice (3 hours)<\/p>\n

    We\u2019ll group participants by experience level and practice on-bike drills in a controlled, car-free space. You\u2019ll practice bike handling, balance, hazard-avoidance skills, and more.<\/p>\n

    Break:<\/p>\n

    We\u2019ll take a half hour in between part 1 and 2 for a lunch break\u2014 please feel free to bring<\/p>\n

    Part 2: On-Road Group Ride (2 hours)<\/p>\n

    Once foundational skills are built, instructors will lead you out on nearby streets and paths to apply them in real riding conditions. You’ll practice merging, lane positioning, and riding alongside cars with confidence in a supportive group environment.<\/p>\n

    Important Notes & Requirements<\/h3>\n
      \n
    • This is not a learn-to-ride class. Participants must already be comfortable balancing, pedaling, and steering.<\/li>\n
    • Open to riders ages 15+.<\/li>\n
    • Riders under 18 must be accompanied by an adult who is also registered and participating.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        This three-hour workshop is for adults and teens who have not yet learned to ride a bike or would like a refresher on the basics of balancing, pedaling, and steering.<\/p>\n

        Our trained instructors are friendly, patient, and will help you get off to a great start in a safe, non-judgmental environment.<\/p>\n

        You\u2019ll need a working bike to participate. We have a limited number of bikes available to rent\u2014 but we ask that you please only reserve a rental if you don\u2019t already have access to a bike.<\/p>\n

        This workshop has a very low student-to-teacher ratio. If the class is full, you can be added to the waitlist or sign up to be notified when new workshops are added.<\/p>\n

        Teens are welcome to participate with a parent or guardian present for the duration of the class.<\/p>\n
